The History Of The Club

From the Geological examination and Observation, it is found that River Damodar-Noy was formed at the end of 4th Glacier Era. Subsequently, a vast area along the banks of River Damodar-Ajoy got converted in to dense Forest Land due to the wetness of the soil. This Forest Land extended from Senpahari, the southern part Burdwan District, to Barakar. Asansol Forest Land lay in between Raniganj and Barakar. Due to large numbers of Asan Trees, this area was called Asansol Forest land. Coming back to the history of Asansol, Sri Alibardi khan was the Nawab of Bengal in the year 1740. During that period, Sri Shatrughansekhar Garurnarayan Singhdeo was the king of Panchkot. From the year 1742, some invaders (Bargis) from outside under the Leadership of Sri Bhaskar Pandit invaded Bengal and started disturbing frequently. They also attacked the kingdom of Panchkot. During that period, Sri Nokori Roy and Sri Ramkrishna Roy were heads of Border Guard Force of king of Panchkot for the Asonsoi Forest Land, the adjacent area of Panchkot. In the year 1742, some of the invaders tried to enter Asansol Forest Land also. There had been fierce battle between them, where, two sides of different histories were seen. One was the stigmatized history of those invaders under the Leadership of Sri Bhaskar Pandit. The other was the bright side of bravery and love for homeland headed by Sri Nokori Roy and Sri Ramkrishna Roy. Sri Nokori Roy and Sri Ramkrishna Roy, with their bravery and love for their home land, and, with the help of the armed forces of Panchkot under them, foiled the attempts of those invaders. These two heroes created history. Fascinated with their bravery and delighted to see their love for their home land of Sri Nokori Roy and Sri Ramkrishna Roy, the king of Panchkot Sri Garur Narayan Singhdeo donated the vast area of Asansol Forest Land to them at the cost of Rs. Three hundred Seventy-six, Four annas and Two pai . In the Government records,

it is mentioned that this area is in the District of Manbhum, Sergarh Pargana and, needless to say, under the state of Panchkot. Thereafter, Jaygirdar Sri Nokori Roy and Sri Ramkrishna Roy chopped down the forest and rehabilitated the area and named it Asansol from the 2 words "ASAN" which is the name of a Tree and "SOL" means a flourishing land with Minerals. The Asan Tree is found in abundance on the banks of River Damodar. There were no villages or Towns nearby Asansol then. Only the existence of Niyamatpur in the West and Raniganj in the East is found in the records. To make Asansol self-reliant, Jaygirdar Sri Nokori Roy and Sri Ramkrishna Roy then brought in people of different castes, creed and professions to live in.ln course of time, with the establishment of Factories, Railway Station and Colonies and Coal Mines in and around Asansol, it became a developed and flourishing Town. And now, Asansol is the Headquarter of Paschim Burdwan District.

In honor of, paying respect to and in memories of Jaygirdar Sri Nokori Roy and Sri Ramkrishna Roy, members of Sri Sri Niikantheswar Jiu DebottorTrust and Sri Dayamoy Roy, Councilor of Ward no 45 of Ason!)1 Municipal Corporation and Chairman of Boro Committee IV, along with the people of Asansol took the initiative of installation of full figure statues of the founders of Asansol- Jaygirdar Sri Nokori Roy and Sri Ramkrishna Roy and handed over a memorandum along with the related documents to Sri Jitendra Tewari, the Mayor of Asansol Municipal Corporation on 30th March 2017 with a request of approving the proposal.  Nokori Roy and Sri Ramkrishna Roy, but also allotted the required fund for installation of the statues.
